One Day I'll Love Again

I recently went through a very rough break-up and it has been affecting me for months. I don't know how to trust, and not be paranoid now, or ever think I'll be good enough for another guy. What would make them stay with me when this one didn't? I went through all kinds of "What is wrong with me?" scenarios and it just has not been a happy time. Really focusing on blogging and reading other blogs has really distracted me and gotten me through this hard time in my life. So I appreciate each and every one of my fans and blogger friends, and those of you who comment on my posts everyday. It tells me that people do care about me, even people I've never met in person, and I really appreciate it. Who needs a man anyway?

Anyhoo, I bought this heart necklace at the Houston International Festival last weekend and though I'm still down and bitter on love right now, and still healing I wanted to buy it and wear it to remind myself that one day I will find love again.

Ensemble:
Vest: A'Gaci
Striped Tee: Express
Necklace: Vendor at iFest
Pants: New York & Company
Wedges: New York & Company

I love this cheap little vest I bought from A'GACI. I'm pretty sure it was only $6.50, but there are so many ways to wear it as I demonstrate in my photos. I ended up wearing the tied at the bottom look today for work. But I'm so excited to have this piece in my closet!! I'm also really in love with the color combination black, white, and red. Since I wanted the necklace to be the focus I didn't "RED" this outfit out. But on another day I might had added red heels, or a red skinny belt!

WHITE OUT - Bloggers Do It Better

Hat: Target
Necklace: NY&Co
Tank Top: Express
Vest: NY&Co
Pants: NY&Co

This outfit is a result of participating in Kristina's (author of Pretty Shiny Sparkly) Bloggers Do It Better White Out Challenge. You can check out her white-out outfit here. Here is the mission of Bloggers Do it Better.

Bloggers Do It Better is a movement. An initiative to showcase real girls, with real style, wearing real trends.Think of it as inspiration from the girl next door. Joining is easy, just click on any post below to find out how you can get involved!

I've definitely worn all white before, but usually in a dress form. I hardly ever go all white with pants or shorts, so I thought it would be neat to do something different for the challenge. And the great thing about white-out, is not everything has to be "White". I'm wearing a lucite necklace and earrings, and a cream hat. My tank top is actually cream too!! You could actually add bold bright color accessories to your white out outfit, like turquoise, orange, yellow, and golds! You can tell that I had a little too much fun taking these pictures!

Sky High

Ensemble
Top: Express
Handbag: NY&Co
Skirt: NY&Co
Pumps: Paris Hilton

I entitled this blog "Sky High" because of the height of these Paris Hilton shoes. And no I did not buy these shoes because I'm a Paris Hilton fan (and I'm not a fan, just for clarification), but because they were on sale at Burlington, and I thought they were fantastic! I totally knew I could rock these heels because even though they looked high on the shelf the platform in the front of the shoe would help me out....NOT! Even with the platform these shoes still felt high, and I think I might have struggled a bit and broke my own "If you can't walk it, don't rock it" heel rule! HAHAHA Not only are they high, but they are actually a bit heavy! Whatever that black material is made out of clomps, but whatever, the shoes sure made the outfit dang sexy! HAHAHA, and luckily for me I was sitting for most of the day.

PINK

Ensemble:
Necklace: New York & Company
Cardigan: Target
Tank Top: Charlotte Russe
Belt: Nine West (Burlington)
Skirt: New York & Company
Heels: Bakers

In preparation for Easter, I was inspired to wear a church-esque outfit to work. The bright colors and white are perfect for a church ensemble for Easter. Actually when I got dressed, I thought I should change, and actually save this look for Sunday, but I'm sure I'll find something great to wear on Sunday also. Plus I was way too excited to wear this skirt to wait a few more days! I love this flowy A-line skirt from NY&C. Everything about it is great, the fit, the length, and the colors. It also looks good with a top tucked in...I had a hard that morning deciding on if I wanted to wear the shirt tucked in or out. This skirt provides a lot of styling opportunities. I was even going to wear it with a light, sky blue tank top, but liked the pink better with it!

This outfit is definitely one that can change a million times in one day with the following options
1. Wear the Cardigan fully-buttoned
2. Wear the Cardigan half-buttoned
3. Wear the belt on the outside of the cardigan with the cardigan open
4. Wear the belt on the outside of the cardigan with the cardigan buttoned
5. Tuck the tank top inside the skirt, and place the belt over the skirt

I'm sure this skirt will be featured many times on this blog throughout the summer, and you can see how many ways I can style it!

For lunch, my two co-workers and I met up with our friend in the area, Monica. She looked so chic, I asked her to pose for a picture to feature in my blog! Her handbag is amazing because it's made out of seatbelt material! So unique!

She bought her handbag from Harvey's Seatbelt Bags. They have so many cute designs!

And as promised here's some more styling tips from Instyle's "The New Secrets of Style" Book
Head to Toe Slenderizing Tricks
Choose looks that are either "short over long" or "long over short"

  • Cropped jacket over a knee-length shift will give your waist definition while lengthening your bottom half

  • Long jacket with skinny pants or a tunic over a shorter pencil skirt that hits above or at the knee will provide a top-to-bottom slimming effect

Love,

Unique Shirt

Ensemble
Peep-toe Booties: Paprika (Burlington)
Jeans: Old Navy The Flirt
Top: Burlington
Belt: New York & Company

I've had this shirt hanging in my closet for over a month now! I bought it and forgot about it. Though I'm glad that I got to wear it today, it's an annoying shirt when it comes to keep wrinkles out of it, but it's fun. I like the overlap of the collar.  The under part of the shirt was a little shapeless so I added the skinny blue leopard belt to provide myself with more of a figure from the side. I tried to do a little something different with my new hair cut today. I took one of the middle sections and twisted back and clipped it down. Can you see it?? lolol

Overall I'm pleased with my casual Friday ensemble for work. This would be great to go to a Happy Hour in right after work! I typically do Happy Hours after work on Fridays, but tonight I'm going to the last Runway Show of HFIG's Spring Fashion Week. It starts at 6, so no time for Happy Hour tonight! I'll be sure to post lots of pictures from the show!

Love,

Government Meeting

Ensemble
Pants: New York & Company
Heels: Connie (Famous Footwear)
Halter Dress Shirt: New York & Company
Blazer: A'Gaci

Well my last post was on my travel outfit to Baton Rouge for work. Clearly I couldn't wear that outfit to work, which was a meeting with a government agency in Louisiana, so I changed into a more professional attire. I just bought this blazer this weekend. I already own a white blazer, but it's very heavy and a little big, so I bought a cheaper, lighter one from A'GACI for the spring. I'm so happy with it! I love it. I love the light colors of this outfit, and I was so happy to finally take pictures somewhere other than my apartment!! Props go to my co-worker Justin Jones for taking these pictures and the pictures from my last post! He's a trooper, because I had him take so many pictures, which is why this blog entry is swamped with photos!

Love,
