This outfit gave me much joy. For years, I've practiced the never mix prints unless you want to look like a clown, or someone that didn't look in the mirror before walking out their front door, or someone who may have gotten dressed in the dark...but last night I was catching up on all my mags as my relaxing labor day activity and in my InStyle Magazine they talked about breaking the Fashion Rules. Lo and behold the 8th rule was mix prints, go against the grain. Of course you still can't go hog wild with it. More like mixing floral with plaid, or floral and polka dot. Soooo I read this before falling asleep last night and woke up with the desire to see if I could pull off this new style without feeling heartburn. I managed to surprise myself. I really liked this look. I liked the fact that people turned their heads at me today. I love that!!! I think I could get used to this, but as I said, it still has to be done right...tips from Instyle are as follows...
Pair a bold, decorative pattern, such as loud florals with a geometric one like polka dots.
Choose separates in complimentary colors and the same tonal family.
