I believe Apple did go with a larger sensor in the iPhone 4.
They kept the same pixel size as from before, but made the sensor larger to increase the number of pixels. It's also uses backlit illumination, per Steve Jobs.

I actually like the idea of wireless communication on iPods. They could do it exactly like "sharing"in iTunes. Imagine you sitting somewhere in the underground or bus, taking out your iPod, checking "other iPods" on the main menu, browsing through the playlist and thinking: "hey, this guy/girl has a good music taste". You could see what she/he's listening to ("now playing") and listen to it. And if you see the other person rocking his head to the same song you're hearing, you know it's the right one. And if this person happens to share it's profile (contact information), you can get the phone number etc...
That sounds like it makes more sense than Zuneing a song. Instead of somebody asking "do you want to listen to this song" and maybe the person is annoyingly persistent about you listening to it to the point where you want to clock him one for not leaving you alone, the person can look on another person's iPod himself if he so desires and if the other guy has sharing on. If Apple makes iPod sharing exactly the same as iTunes sharing, and figures out a way to keep the battery life up, then that's what people would want to get.

How are going about mounting the powerbrick behind the desk? I would like mine off my desk aswell.
Well, I just did it, I used green strip putty (I can't remember the name), looks like this only a pine-green
http://www.barrule.com/Workshop/images/products/sylmasta/DURO.gif
I mounted it to the back of the desk, worked really well, just take 2 very small (half inch or so) peices and stick it on. It cleans up pretty easily off plastic, just don't try putting it on dry wall or plaster. (Hence, why I put it on the back of the desk, it wont come off very well, but who looks at the back of the desk?)

I don't know. The biggest seller in the UK, even now, is Sir Cliff Richard and he was knighted before Sir Paul McCartney.
Congratulations:-)

And yet, no new iPhone will be present ... I predict a lot of attending hearts will be broken!
This is for developers, they come to see what kind of software they need to develop. They don't really care for hardware, and they don't pay this much just to see the announcement of the iPhone, something they could have seen online or just read about. This is all about discussing what Apple wants developers to do in their programming.

When I just upgraded through iTunes on Mac, after downloading for a second it flashed "Verifying iPhone with Apple".
Has that been there before? Did I miss it in the past?
Been that way for a while.

I am shopping for a phone as my contract is up and I am considering iPhone 4 or waiting for the iPhone 5 and I'm also considering waiting for the new Nokia's so I'm looking at this with some interest.
What concerns me with the iPhone camera's isn't the optics and the sensors, it's the horrible post-processing that's automatically done to make their (iPhone) pictures 'seem' better, as in the colour saturation. It makes images seem unreal. (Try taking a picture in Grey Manchester) and you'll see how unrealistic the images look.
Can this be turned off? If not, then the 5 -> 8mp nor if they bump up to Karl Zeiss optics won't have any affect as they are still taking unrealistic representations.

I'm sorry to tell this. It's strange to read 'There's something in the air' after just finishing reading an article about the biggest carpet bombing operation since 2003.
1) But I'd like to have my poor Airport Express updated for sound while watching movies.
2) And the poor iPod HIFI should be an iPod WIFI.
2) Wireless Blu-ray for the MacBook Nano.
3) iPhone 2 as a high speed internet hub when using the MacBook on the road.
4) A solution to get rid of all the cables?

So Walmart is full of obese hillbillies?
I bought my iPad 2 at Walmart: 7 folks in line, 15 iPad 2's. Everyone was very nice. Im a 24yr old 6'2'', 190lb Systems engineer(with all my teeth)...and I shop there all the time. Dont hate...
I went to walmart on launch day at 4pm I was #5 in line and they had 6. Best Buy had 40 in line. I was out of there by 5:05 with my 64 gig wifi. I ordered one for my wife on line I got a 5 week date. They sent my cover right away, and took full payment from my debit card. Thats why they should send the ordered ones before they open to another chain.

I doubt all those whining about $5 for Xcode 4 are attending the Developers Conference.

It's nice to see the generally positive comments on this forum, other forums for "professionals" are not so happy!
Personally I can't wait to start working with it.
What these naysayers are NOT saying is what pro features are missing. Until they list something wrong with it, they are just being irrational. My experience is, lots of guys don't like their pro apps getting too easy to use, because they want their skills to be considered special. They hate it when, "Anyone can do it".
As others have pointed out, editing skills isn't just about technical expertise with the tools. What sets the better editors apart, is the choices they make. Think Walter Murch.

Then how is it an 'in-your-face-you-smug-apple-using-retards'?
Why would these "blackhats" be listening to Apple, particularly when they appear to have an axe to grind?
yeah, I don't see how they can make their smugness quotes, and then go to apple and microsoft first before demoing. It does seem odd, since they would know that all companies involved would "pressure" them like that.

It's funny because there are devices that allow you to do these things.
Apple allows the normal people to move forward in the technology world.

I was expecting an 8MP Camera in the iPhone 5, Im just glad it could be a top quality company like Sony doing it.
No offense but its obvious you know nothing about photography. Your statement is 100% incorrect.
I guess these are bad pictures then if good pictures can't be taken without top of the line equipment:
Those are good, famous photos, even though the one on the left is staged, the kids are hiding their faces because they couldnt stop giggling at the idea of having their photo taken. Powerful photo though.

Was "schooled" yet again... When the iPad 2 was close to being announced; I mentioned to a group of friends that I might sell my better half my iPad - I was "taught" that as this point there is NO SELLING of old "tech".
that is a load. First off the original ipad is hardly 'old tech'. It is still very usable by the right folks. Say little kids that want to play games, granny that just wants it for email, the whole "teach for america" thing.
'Old tech' would be trying to sell a G4 with a PPC processor in the now every entrenched Intel age. There's pretty much no 3rd software supporting it, Mac OS 10.5 is the highest you can take that, etc

Since it is so big, it should be patches only IMO. Or people will lose so much space in their iDevice. And hopefully not automatic as well.

...and press another random button or find ourselves at another random location after the last level.
Random? What was random about the levels to you? They made plenty of sense to me with regards to the story.
I just fell from the sky into the mountains....now I have walked to the nearest city, where my team happens to be
The player has a re-entry pack on. You can see this in the cutscene both on the Covenant ship, and at the start of the next level when he/she pulls out their pistol from it. Also, this level, Exodus, takes place 10 days later. You've walked to New Alexandria, but you are only helping the Army there on the way to meeting back up with your team. You don't meet up with them until the end of the following level.

I used to think the same way. 2 kids off to college, money is tight but I gave them each their choice of laptops:
1.) kid#1 chose a Dell because she <gasp> liked Vista
2.) kid#2 chose the plain old white macbook
3 years later, guess which one is currently crap? Seriously, Kid#1 comes home one day, opens up her Dell and she's got 3 keys missing one of which is the Enter key - has no clue where they went. :D Also, the battery is lasting a full 20 minutes and the DVD drive is kaput. The damn thing creaks and moans more than my arthritic joints.
Now, the lowly white macbook looks like it's been used as a door mat (which I polished up for kid #2 in about 5 minutes) but it works flawlessly.
Really... don't rationalize the cost. Kids are tough on these things and you aren't always there to "learn 'em" how to handle them. A well built mac + Applecare is a pretty secure future for their learning experience.
When my child hits college, she can have whatever she wants.
She is 8 years old and in 2nd grade right now. Contrary to what her school thinks, she doesn't "need" a $1k+ laptop to work on what boils down to Word docs and web research.

I am seriously thinking of getting out of Windowsworld and the new 24" iMac looks great!:D
From the listed specs this will really rock.
Anybody have advice on whether I should wait for Leopard to come out or not?
Since Core 2 Duo is 64-bit, there's really no reason to wait if you need/really want a new computer right now.
